Amm..I have noticed this weird behaviour from my scanner.
Whenever I am scanning (using HP 3100), my Logitech cordless mouse will not move....
At first I thought it's somehow because they are both connected to USB, but i figured my mouse is on PS2...
Any hints?
I am running XP pro by the way (on a P4 machine)

I'm not sure about newer scanners, but, I know my old Acer flatbed scanner was a resource/memory hog. If I was scanning anything, my whole system would seem to freeze up for a few minutes. I think it does this so as not to interfere with the scanning process..

Just my guess tho.. but I don't believe you are having any "unusal" problem..

Could be an IRQ conflict or IRQ sharing goofiness.

Are your USB ports and PS/2 ports sharing and IRQ?

on also a funny note:

I have my v60i charger near my mouse. One time I had to phone plugged in and on...I received a phone call and suddenly my cordless optical mouse stopped working.

After another call, I realized it was the phone ringing causing the mouse to freeze :D

It could also be that the scanner's kicking off some RFI that's interfering with your mouse. Same thing for your phone.

I've noticed, for instance, that if my phone is on my nightstand it causes interference with my clock radio when I'm trying to listen to AM (I listen to Art Bell at night sometimes).
