Will older games work on XP?

I'm wanting to get Resident Evil 2 and 3 for the PC. But they say windows 95,98 on the box. Think they would work on XP?

To tell you the truth it's a game of chance. Like with the Sims some people can get it to work while others can't.

If you do have problems uninstall them then reinstall using the caompatibility program. That's part of XP and supposed to make it work. The biggest problem I have with the older games is they weren't designed for the cpu speeds so they can go real fast, I've got one that you just can't play because half the time I can't see whats happening till it's over.

I think that's more the case with DOS games rather than Win9x games. I haven't had a problem running any old games yet.
