What would be better

I have 6 P4 2.0GHz folding full time right now, and got to thinking, would it be better to have 6@2.0GHZ=12GHZ, or 12@1.0GHz=12GHz? My current thinking is the 12@1GHz because you can work on more projects at any given time, despite the speed difference between the two procs. What you do guys think?

My money is on the 6 2Ghz machines running the -advmethods flag to get gromacs. It really is about total Mhz in the end. If I had my choice, i'd take the 6 machines over the 12.

You have 6 P4's, so it sounds like you want to trun 2 instances of folding on ea, if so the only time you realy would have any advantage that way is if Stanford was to go down for a little while and that way you would @ least have something to fold till they got back up.

i would definately choose the 6 p4s, i mean it would be to much trouble to keep 12 up and running. but if like rottys said you are just wanting to run 2 instances on each, it seems the only advantage would be if stanford went down or if you are on dialup.

No intention of running two instances, I was curious as to which would be more advatageous to folding.

And I've got them running gromacs, which gave me about 250 WU since yesterday afternoon.

umm,...if he had 12 Athlon 1ghzs, i think that would be better than 6 P4s simply because Athlons kick so much ass at folding
