Anyone try an RV water pump? Some are available on ebay pretty cheap, and their high psi, 25-45psi, should help overcome some of the low flow rates associated with other watercooling systems. Most of them are at 12V and about 3A, so they would work off a good power supply.

are they designed to run 24/7?

Could you post a link to specs or something?

Try this one:

I know they're about twice as much new.... But there's plenty of these on ebay.
For the mathematically challenged, this one is 168GPH, and 48W on a 12V line. And 45psi is a LOT more powerful than those dinky aquarium pumps.
The higher pressure will definately overcome resistance better than them. Check out the ACTUAL flow rates of the aquarium pumps here:

Watch out for those pumps that prime themselves: they're usually very noisy.

Otherwise, Jabsco makes a magdrive pump that would work ok, but it's ~$100.

those pumps would be really nice, I have a shurflo diaphragm pump thats 12v 5 amps. and somewhere around 40-50psi, that link goes to a gear pump, wich I dont know if it would be better, but it could be. Im gonna design a custom setup some day to use it with some good inpingement flow, I just gotta figure out how Im not gonna blow apart my heatercore....

I havent even run my pump yet, It was in my garage, it was from a sprayer that went on our four wheeler, I need to go buy some barbs for it and hook it up to clean it out.

These pumps new cost over $100

One thing to watch out for with those high psi pumps though is leakage. It's a LOT easier to blow a seal or a hose loose and that would be a BAD thing.

I was thinking all copper lines for the custom job, and definately use hoseclamps if i used it in a regular system..

What Exactly is priming? I've been looking around on Ebay and alot of pumps say that they are.

Priming: Let's say for example that you're trying to drain an in-ground pool. You'd sit the pump on a chair, and run a tube to the pool.

Now there's no water in the tube above the level of the water, so unless the pump is able to prime itself, i.e. suck the air out until it can pump water, nothing will happen.

All magdrive centrifugal pumps are unable to prime themselves.
