CD Roms disappear

I have an Abit BE6-II with a P3 800E, and an Elsa GeForce 2 GTS. I have been trying to install my Soundblaster and everytime I install the soundblaster both my CD Roms (Kenwood 72X & Plexwriter 12x10x32A) are no longer recognized by Windows. Anyone have any ideas?!

try setting both drives to PIO mode. mine disappear when using UDMA even though they are UDMA compatible. it will slow the performance a little bit but how often do you actually use cdroms? usually only to install things and it won't effect burning or playing music at all.

see if that fixes it.
