altec lasning 641's and adding more speakers

does any1 know if these speakers have an amp within the subwoofer box,it has 400w peak and 245w continous,iam just wondering if i could add more like 2 more speakers to it????without it blowing up sorry i dont know much about speakers,or should i just use my own 4x200w speakers with amp and connect it to my cpu???what cord what i need to plug it in my soundcard???

im sure the amp is in the sub woofer box. but im not sure what you mean, by hooking up 2 more speakers. if you just plug two more speakers into the speaker spots, it MIGHT work. but it will drop the ohms of the amp. most likely its an 8 ohm amp, and the speakers are 8 ohms, if you hook 2 speakers to one channel, it will drop the ohms down to 4 for that channel. i dont know how well built the amp is, i would imagine its not top of the line, so you might be able to get away with it, or you might not. by the way, when you hook them up like that, its called paralell, you could hoow the speakers up in series, and that would actualy raise the ohms of the amp, if you had 2 8 ohm speakers, and hooked them up in series the amp would see it as 16 ohms. there is a lot more to it than that. but those are just the basics. if you have any more questions, just ask. i will try to answer them.

okay well what cord would i need to plug from my amp to my sb live card and where could i buy 1 radio shack???
