HI have just done my first overclock and it worked. The windows jump up faster that usual so I did something to it. I have the M748LMRT mb and a 400 celeron. I adjusted the multiplier setting from 6 to 7.5 in .5 increments. It is now runing at 500 acording to my bios. Temp only went up 2.0C. I don't know if I will go the extra .5 or not. Don't have any CDs for the system so I am flying without a chute here. I am going to purchase the new 2000 when it arives but until then have to be carefull. This must be an older one which was not locked from what I have gleamed from the forum. Anyone with a spare 98 cd please give me a reply. I guess I have done all I can to this one. Thanks for all your help.

Are you sure that it is actually running at 500Mhz now? Have you tried running WinCPUid? Normally, it doesn't help at all to change the multiplier, and you have to up the FSB instead... but maybe you were just lucky?!

Hi Aln I am sure it increased the cpu speed somewhat but am only going by what the bios said. I can increase the fsb to 100 but it is one jump and I dont have any software for this thing if it crashes completely. Where do I get WINCPUid or is it in w98. I have a program to run benchmarks but I need 65 ram and my vidio is taking 8 mb so it leaves me short. It did suprise me when it seemed to increase speed since changing those settings should'nt change anything. I don't know when this was bought new> I am the second owner. Will see what happens though. Thanks for your input.

Żou can get WinCPUid at:

http://www.h-oda.com/

It's a nice little program that'll give you lots of info on your system. It will show the actual CPU-speed.

I agree that it's a big jump in FSB, but if you do it, and it won't restart, just reset your BIOS with the proper jumper, and it will go back to default speed.
