Would it be ok to have your cdrw drive/dvd drive on there sides. I am afraid of the lazer getting out of aliment and also scratching cds....

Some are made so they can be mounted vertically. Make sure the tray is designed to hold the disc in place while inserting/ejecting

Isn't there a increase in chance that the CD's will explode and the planet blows up?????
:D
Only the nuclear powered CDDAM serverbusters.
Didn't know they made nuclear powered cd rom drives.....
Any way my liteon doesn't have little clips to hold the cds in place. Can I still mount it on its side?

probably not. I wouldn't recommend it if there's nothing to hold it in place. The last thing you want is it falling out of place before it's all the way in....

Check the manual to be sure. Some drives can, some can't.

if it has little catchers on the side... then it should work... but if its just the plate, then it may not work.
Make sure the drive has a plate on the top what sits on TOP of the CD....if it does not have one don't turn it on its side...ur say bye bye to what CD u put in there.

I doubt it would tell you.
But anyway try it and see if you get errors, if you do mount it horizontally.

most cd-roms will read at both 0 degre and 90 degre setups, look in the back of the manual for mounting ranges, it will tell you.
