Happy Birthday.

The P6 core alone has survived 6 years with three die shrinks (0.35->25>18>13) and has seen speeds rise from 200mhz to 1400mhz.

P5's had MMX too. MMX was launched with the P-166, P-200, and P-233 (though there were non-MMX versions of each as well).

As I understand it the PIIs & Ppros were the first P6 cores, which were released in 1997.

Yes, although the PPro came out in '95. I remember Intel having a little "What would you do with a Pentium Pro?" contest -- my suggestion of playing Warcraft with it wasn't good enough to win.
