I cant change the settings at all on this thing. I have the soltek 75FRN-L and Geil 512ddr pc3200. I changed the multiplier to 10, the fsb to 166, dram also to 166, vcore to 1.65 dimm volt was at 2.5, and mem timings were 6-3-3-2.5 and the thing wouldnt post. Am I screwing up the settings or what. It seems like no matter what I try, nothing works!!

Try setting memory and cpu FSB BOTH to 133.

Do this JUST to see if you can change the multiplier at all. I think the 2400 has the 'high multiplier' range, right? Maybe your board can't do the lower multiplier range (which is where 10 is) without a pin trick / blown bridge / something.

Try default multiplier @ 133, then try lowering / raising it one at 133 to see if you can do it.

If you can, then determine what the lowest multiplier you can get is.

Then come back and tell us, and someone with more experience than me with the hi lo bit will be able to help you.

start at stock(voltage and all) and slowly raise it from there. once it becomes unstable raise the voltage a little and crank up the speed a little from there. keep doin it until your voltage is at like 1.9v and/or your temp gets too high.

Man, Im getting PO'd. I turned the vcore to 1.7, fsb and dram to 140 and windows BSOD. Normally I run at stock vcore, 133fsb and 200mhz dram( this is what the m/b auto loaded). Why cant I get ANYTHING??? Could the dimm voltage be too low at 2.5? The 140 fsb shouldnt even be pushing this thing.

I dont know much about the memory/mem voltage. maybe a person wwith more knolage in that area could help you. As for the 140 fsb, my palimino with extremely crappy ram does 145 at stock voltage so there is definately somethin wrong.

try setting everything back to defaults in your bios. dont do the optimized defaults just the defaults and then try it.

Ok, I seem to be running good at 155x13@1.7v. It boots as a 2700. Looks like we're getting somewhere. At idle the software says cpu@35C and system @45C.

You really need to raise the VDimm because it is known fact that memory likes voltage and the memory companies even say its better to run your memroy at 2.8 to 2.9v this is the first voltage I raise because the memory needs to send as clean a signal as possible to the chipset and CPU as possible. definately raise your VDIMM to at least 2.8v if not 2.9v..

Not that it matters here but depending on how Geil does it, 2.9v may void the warranty. I seem to remember seeing that corsairs warranty is void if you set the vdimm to 2.9. But when was the last time any of us actually worried about a warranty ;)

Geil is rated for 2.6v to 3.1v and will not void any warrantee.

I have heard that by running cpu's @ really high voltage will decrease the life of the cpu is this as true with ram?

OK, now Im at 184x11@1.7. Question is, do I want to raise the multiplier and lower the fsb, or keep the multiplier at 11 and just keep nudging up the fsb?

keep in mnd that the fsb makes EVERYTHING faster.
(does it make vid card faster too?)

makes agp bus faster not the atual gfx card

its best to get the highest fsb possible so wot i do is reduce the multi and try and get the fsb as high as poss and then increse the multi till its at the max then you know your getting the best performance possible out of everything
