mixing ram

can you mix pc133 an pc100 ram? what will by the consquence if you can?

i have two 128 sticks of pc133 ram on my abit be6ii. i have an extra slot available and i have a 128 stick of pc100 lying around. it seems tempting to throw it in for a grand total of 384 megs, but i want to be sure first.

If your FSB isn't over 100Mhz, it should work. Try it out, and see if it works!

Just be aware that if the 100MHz stick is slower than the 133MHz sticks (ns-wise), all three sticks will have the speed of the slowest stick, giving you more, but slower RAM overall...

Most CAS2 8Ns PC100 RAM will run happily at CAS3 PC133.

If you're only running at 133FSB and you aren't that worried about a minor drop in performance, they I'd say go for it. Only problem is you'll have to run all three sticks of RAM at CAS3.

If you're running at over 133 FSB, Then I wouldn't bother. It'll slow the system to much.
