I have a Shuttle AK35GT/2 and over the past year I have noticed the folowing problems: Unable to overclock (CPU is unlocked), Gameport unoperational (checked the bio... FIVE TIMES), unusable microphone port (Tried three perfectrly good mics, none of which I could hear with out turning my sound up to 100%), and NO support at there site. Can somebody help me with any of these problems, or at least tell me that they are standard and Shuttle is ripping everybody off not just me.

Have you installed all the chipset drivers for your board? Have you installed the (onboard?) sound drivers? (Almost all of your issues seem related to the sound, other than overclocking.) These are just a few things you might want to check on. I'm sorry it's not working out well for you! -- Paul

Try this...

Your problem with the overclock might be...

1) Try adjusting the CPU FSB in BIOS, if possible, up about 4 or 5 Mhz. Save and reboot. If the System starts up and reports a faster CPU speed... then there shouldn't be any problem with the board.

2) Be careful NOT to short out CPU bridges that are not needed to unlock the multiplier. Check to make sure if you did that correctly.

Good points. It could be a bug in the BIOS at speeds near the default FSB.

Also, do you have an add-in PCI sound card (e.g., soundblaster)? If so, then notice that your AC97 will be disabled, which means that your onboard mic and gameport won't work; use the ports on the sound card instead.

If you are indeed using the onboard sound, then that's more of any issue. Make sure you have cmedia's most recent drivers installed.

Here's info on your mobo AK35GT2/R:

choose the appropriate chipset here: (8738)

In fact, here's a direct link to your cmedia drivers:

You might also consider updating your BIOS. Their FTP site is here:
ftp://ftp.spacewalker.com/

More precisely, here:
ftp://ftp.spacewalker.com/BIOS/ak35/
It depends on your PCB version (under the bottom PCI slot), but since it's AK35GT2, I'm guessing 2.x, so look in the appropriate folder.

For other information also try their old site:

Good luck -- Paul

i have the same mobo and mine has been ruuning for 5 months now with out a hitch!!!.....try reloading the drivers for the sound and as far a support from shuttle goes never needed it so i don't know?

Indeed, I hope you get it working. I've been very happy with my Shuttle board myself.

@Neuromancer:
BTW, I've noticed it's been awhile since you've posted on this thread. Have you solved your problem? If so, it would be nice if you dropped us a line so we could direct our troubleshooting elsewhere.

Thanks, and good luck! -- Paul
