1024 x 768 which is native since I have a ViewSonic VG151 flat panel. I really wanted to grab my DVI cable while I was home this weekend but forgot. I just got my DVI out enabled Ti-4200 a couple of weeks ago and wanted to hook up my monitor all digital. I guess I will have to wait till I find a cable or till I can get home again.

The recommended resolution for my NEC Multisync 17" LCD Monitor is 1280 x 1024. However, it is so tiny, I can barely read it in that mode. So, I have it on 800x 600. Then Microsoft pops up something that says resize, and it resizes. I lose a 1/4 inch off the right side, which turns to black.
I think the problem is I can't get my Monitor to work nice with my 9500 Pro. I have to install ATI Drivers, because if I don't, I can't scroll easily down a page, etc...As soon as I install the drivers, my screen goes screwy, Microsoft resizes, etc...
I wish I could go recommended, *lol*.
Anyone know the solution, PM me!
For right now, stuck in 800 x 600..

1280x960 @ 85Hz, why DO so many people use 1280x1024? It distorts the image, making everything skinnier (assuming the image was made to be shown in 4:3...and isn't everything? besides widescreen of course)

I completely agree with that whole 4:3 ratio idea... distorted images bug the hell out of me... As for LCD panels... I wish those 17-19 inchers would be 4:3 and run at 1600x1200 or 1400x1050 instead of 1280x1024, though at least their pixels are square unlike running 1280x1024 on most CRT's

question:
If you ran 800x600 on a 15" monitor, and then on a say 20" monitor, then took a measuring tape and measured the size of say the start button, would it physicaly be 4/3 greater on the 20" or would it be the exact same size? Does the same hold true for text?

I'm using 1280X960 works great. Of course it could be that a majority are using a 17" monitor?
I get a funny flicker on the bottom right of my screen though when I jack up the hz to even 75 and I kind of wonder if the monitor just doesn't like the resolution for some reason.

I have an old HItachi Superscan Elite 751, running an unusual resolution: 1400 X 1050 at 85 Hz. You see, that's a 4:3 aspect ratio, which results in more natural images since it more closely matches the dimensions of the viewable area of my CRT screen.
If you run powerstrip and you have a 19 inch CRT, try enabling this resolution. I just bet you'll be a convert from then on.
Man o man I wish that someone would make a 8ms TFT panel with 1400 X 1050 as
the native resolution. It would be killer!
