Got an IC7 from GoogleGear. Here is box contents:

Black Motherboard :)
Has dual SPDIFs
Lan is there but covered by a silver sticker
Has [4] USB2 Ports
Has [1] 1394 Port
Has Onboard Sound
Parallel Port
Serial Port
Mouse and Keyboard Ports

Included in box:
Slot bracket that has [2] USB2 and [2] 1394 ports
Round IDE cable
Round FDD cable
[2] SATA drive cables
[2] SATA drive power cables [Molex to SATA]
Quick Install Book [Says IC7-G]
Manual [Says IC7-G]
Install CD [Says IC7-G]
Floppy SATA Install Disk
Rear IO Panel

I want one each of the Abit and Asus boards, but do I go 875 or wait for 865? Do I need to spend 4 bills when I can spend 3? Too many choices and not enough will power...

Keep us updated on how she runs...

This IC7 was $152 shipped http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240119

I see NewEgg has it for $163 shipped [IS]
and
The IC7-G for $234 shipped [OOS]

I have no use for the IC7-G
I intend to run only 2 drives in RAID0. All that I need
Gigabyte Lan would be nice but my network is 10/100 already and I have a VERY expensive Bay Networks switch I am NOT ABOUT to ditch. And have several 10/100 cards laying around that work just fine.

Thanks for the info Terry ,

You mean to say the LAN is there but blocked from it being usable ?

By the way ... Newegg now has both IC7 ($158) and IC7-G ($229) INSTOCK today !!!

Still not sure what to get .
For the price differance the IC7 is looking ALOT better ., as I really dont need the XTRA's on the "G"

I do like that the IC7-G SATA controller can also be used for CD drives .

Iam a Newegg NOW waiting for my brain to say what I want ....
BUT ITS JUST NOT WORKING . AAAAAHHHHHHH !!!!

Man what a decision !!!!

*EDIT*

sorry for the Newegg REPOST , Terry beat me to it while I was posting . :p

*EDIT*
NEWEGG IS SOLD OUT ALREADY ON THE IC7-G !!!!

The LAN Port is there and blocked off with a sticker. I see on the board there is NO chip to run it. Just an empty space with a lot of tiny points of solder where the chip SHOULD be [where it is if it were an IC7-G]

Well I just ordered the IC7 from Googlegear also , cause with tax and all (for me in Calif) the price differance in the two boards comes to about $90 !!! *OUCHIE*

Then I have to include ATA to SATA adapters for the RAID0 ($50/pair of ABIT kits)

I already have an Intel Pro 1000MT NIC (although it is PCI ) , so
I'll be just as happy with the IC7 for now .

Cant wait to see what this baby will do with my 2.4 SL6RZ Costa Rica and 2X512 Corsair 3500C2  :D

good luck both of you.

Thanks mica ;)

I just hope the IC7 is close to stable and OC'able as my trusty IT7 v.1
I've really been spoiled on just how DARN stable and and OC'able my IT7 is .

If the IC7 even comes close (hopefully better) then I'll be pretty happy.

Keep ya all posted ASAP (sometime monday/tuesday I hope)

just got my IC7 today; had some trouble with the XP install, but finally got it working; problem now is when I rebooted after installing, the board halts at the first boot screen with the following message: "Bios Rom checksum error, keyboard error or no keyboard; Detect floppy drive A, Drive A error, system halted"

It does this 9 out of 10 reboots; on the tenth, it will not show my 2.4 P4; only 1.8

have cleared cmos several times but no help!

Any ideas? thanks

Got it up. Put the 2.8 [533] out of my 8SQ800 in it. RAID0 w/ 2xWD 40gb JBs/SATA Adapters. 2X512mb XMS 3200C2.

WinXP PRO SP1
Memory 4:5/417mhz
3508mhz
167mhz FSB
Default voltage

Prime95 been goin for about 3hrs now OK. Will try to get 170mhz+ out of it tomorrow

Problems:
Raid0 was a little tricky to figure out in BIOS. Config utility pretty easy however.
Hercules Soundcard Drivers WILL NOT INSTALL correctly. No sound. [Fortissimo 7.1 GameSurround III]. Works perfectly in another PC. EDIT: Fixed... forgot to install DirectX 8.1b. Drivers installed perfectly after DirX 8.1b install

Will try to snag a 3.0 or 2.8 HT ASAP for this to compare. Seems to run very smooth.

Sandra Memory@167 is about 4200/4200@2-7-3-3 [SPD]

Off to work on sound now.

Cool , sounds promising so far :D

Press on my g00d fellow , and keep us further enlightened !

I hoping to see no less then 185+ FSB to atleast equal my current FSB and chip .
(then again this is a whole other ball game/chipset)

Iam dying to hear ALL good news *crossing fingers* so that I know what to expect from my IC7 come monday/tues.

terry,

big question.....

does the ic7 have 1/1 ratio at 167fsb???

maxvla only has 4/5 ratio at this time on his springdale.

my new chip will hit 185fsb at stock voltage....you can see my delema.

mica needs 1/1 ratio badly for a nice 3330mhz OC.

mica

P.S. we still need to know about the voltages too.

well its quite interesting actually.

my board will do 1:1 if i only have one stick of ram inserted, but if i put two in it locks at 4:5.

beats me i'm confused.

Sandra@167mhz FSB

4:5 4192/4167

1:1 4034/4037

Trying to change mem timings is futile. Always defalts back to 2-7-3-3 no matter what [SPD or Manual]

IC7@167mhz with memory 4:5 ratio [416mhz]

Sandra:

I am really liking this board guys. Very fast and stable. An plenty of USB and Firewire Ports...

ThemalTake PhazerII Silver Aluminum Case:
Has 2-USB Ports/Plugs into board
Has FireWire Port/Plugs into rear Firewire Port on MB

MB has 4-USB Ports
MB has Firewire Port/Thermaltake Firewire plugged into it
Slot bracket that came with MB/has 2-USB & 2-Firewire/ plugs into MB

So total is 8-USB/3-Firewire

And the Intel Serial ATA RAID0? Sandra says almost 58000 on the benchmark... nice

This 2.8 and the XMS 3200 memory are gonna work out pretty good here... both are gonna max out together
