just got in my new xp2000 with 512mb crucial ddr (PC2700) and a sweet 8rda+ mobo... after setting it all up, i run 3dmark01 and get a max 3dmarks of 8500, not bad for a gf3, however i could do better if i wasn't on a 133mhz fsb... so, i pump the fsb up to 166mhz and run 3dmark, it crashes very quickly... back to bios, up the cpu voltage to a maximum of 1.9v but 3dmark still decides it wants to crash. set everything back down to 133mhz and it all works fine again... why the hell can't i reach a 166mhz fsb?! i hear tons of people reaching 200mhz fsb what could be my problem?

should i increase ram voltage?
change agp frequency?

what can i try?

Because putting a 166MHz bus through an XP 2000 will send it to 2075MHz. Far too high. Try 150MHz FSB first, see if thats ok.

I would strongly suggest to unlock that chip and maybe give it an 11.5x multi or something, because the speed of the chip is over 400MHZ faster than what it is rated for.

i think its your ram pc 2700 is rated at 150mhz (right) and if you go 166mhz that may be pushing your RAM try to put the RAM on more relaxed timings or try to put the bus at 150mhz...or get pc 3500 RAM if you wanted to oc the fsb to 200mhz

I would be surpised if the RAM was the problem, I myself have hit 180 mhz FSB with PC2100 and 200 mhz FSB with PC2700 on a Epox Kha+

What are your voltages and tempratures ?

What rating PSU are you running and with how many HD's / CD, DVD, etc.. Fans, ... ie what additional devices which draw power

nvm guys, i got it to work just had to up the voltage on my ram a little bit :D

works great now i'm hauling 9700 3dmarks on a gf3 at 166fsb :D i wonder what wonders 200fsb will bring

pc2700 ram is rated at 166Mhz aka DDR333.

pc2100=133/266
pc2700=166/333
pc3200=200/400
pc3500=216/433
pc3700=233/466
