HELP!!! Monitor Goes Blank!!!

my monitor goes blank once in a while and i can't turn it back on by pressing the on/off switch, i have to restart the computer for it to work again. i can play games fine and it hardly ever does this when i am playing a game, so i don't think it is a problem with the monitor not being able to handle the games, because it is a really old monitor. it usually happens when i'm idling or when i'm just downloading or using low resources. what could be the problem and how can i fix this? by the way, i have a pny verto ti4200 128mb 8x agp video card. any help will be appreciated.

Maybe it has something to do with your power managment settings, but I dont know why it would go blank when your using it.

What about the other power management options, like how long your computer sits idle before it shuts your hard drive down, or how long it takes before your computer goes into a low-power state mode? Also, what OS are you using?

If nothing else, I'd try upgrading your graphics card's drivers and see if that fixes anything.
