Okay...Installing F@H with the service installer on custom doesn't give a proper client.cfg cofig. I copied a config I found on an earlier post instead...is it supposed to look like this (substitute username to nerdlogic):

machineid=1

port=80
usereg=yes

I didn't have anything in my client.cfg file except [settings]username=(some garbled stuff...mostly unsupported text boxes, if you know what i mean) [http](some other barbled stuff & unsupported text boxes)

This was all on one line.

what did you use to edit it? if you used word it can add formatting which can mess it all up. just use Notepad:D

MSDOS Edit handles it better, I think it's the CR LFs that mess it up.

Yeah, but there was not as much info. only what I told you was on there. I can understand yours Kendan, but mine didn't have that...what should I have for the local, host, port? What should I have under [clienttype]?

You dont really have to worry about the [clienttype] area unless u want to modify that stuff....which i dont =\

But u can just install the normal F@H again, and copy the client.cfg over to that one if u understand what i mean ;)

But ya hm...good luck!

I can break it down for you:

username = nikhsub1
team number = 32 (duh!)
ask before fetching = I always say no
use ie settings: again I say no
proxy = no
change advanced options = YES!
core type = FAH!
core priority = idle
CPU usage = 100
disable optimized code = no
system clock errors = no
machine ID = 1 for 1 CPU

Thats it.

If you mean when using the SERVICE INSTALLER you see barely any info in the config file, I have seen that happen. The BEST way to use the service install is to get one of your PROPERLY configured config files, then put that file in the SAME directory as the service installer, then choose AUTOMATED install and it will copy over your config file... Easy as pie.

Like nikhsub1 and Bubba Gump said use the regular console client and let it create the Client.cfg then just copy it. That really is the best way.

Do you know why my computer would fail to send the WU back across the server? I have the config setup to ask me before it connects to the server. My very first WU was done last night and it asked me to connect to the internet, so i got on AOL, and clicked ok, but it came up with an error and didn't send and I dont think my WU counted for me.

+ Attempting to send results
- Connecting to server (171.64.122.108:0)
+ Network send failure
- Error: Could not transmit unit 02. Keeping unit in queue.

BTW: It took a really long time too :(

Hmm....mmcshmi11...what did u put in ur client.cfg? Could you open it in notepad and copy and paste it in here so we can have a look-see?

I heard that u have it setup to ask u if its ok to send work.....did u ok it to send the work? Not thinking your dumb, but sometimes the simplest things are the biggest problems :)

My config is set up the "default" way and the only thing i changed is for it to ask me before it connects, because i have dial-up (soon DSL). I know i clicked ok for it to go once i connected to the internet, it just said there was an error. I am almost done with my next WU so i will tell u if i get it right.

THanks though!

OK it finally works:

+ Attempting to send results
- Connecting to server (171.64.122.124:8080)
+ Results successfully sent
+ Starting local stats count at 1

That was scary though lol. Does it take awhile for the stats to be calculated into Stanford's pages? mines not there yet.....
