First of all this is not a typo, it is a TYAN 1833D, similar to a 1832 except that it is made for Gateway. I put everything in it, which consist of 2 x P2-400s, 4 x 64 meg SDRAM 100, and a PCI vdeo card. However when I connect it up to power I get nothing! There is a LED on the board that looks like the kind that illuminates when power is applied to the board but it does not come on. All the aorementioned items that I put on the motherboard are known working components. The power supply is known to be good as well. Any suggestions? Does gateway use a proprietary ATX style connector with different pin outs?

Here is a link to the specs on the motherboard:

any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Nice board. I am running one with 2 p3 933's. It does have a funky power switch connection. Do you have it hooked to the right posts? If you don't have a manual I can post a scan of the power, hdd light and rest connections. Latter.

That board does use a regular ATX connector, so you should have power with your known good supply.

Do you like how they have solder spots on the board, and labels for the regular switch/LED hookups, but they have the dumbass gateway panel set right above it? :p I just took a small screwdriver and ran down the pins until it started, then just stuck a switch on there.

That LED on the mobo will be green when everything is OK (after you get it turned on). If it's orange, there's a problem with the installed hardware.

Mine refused to start with some PC150 hsdram in there, just sat there with the orange light.

The light will not come on, however, until you get the board switched on. (it's not an indicator of whether the board is "hot" or not)

take out everything but the bare minimum, see if that works, then start putting everything back in

good luck

Hey mattridrm can you please post the scan or maybe if you like you could e-mail it to me. I don't know the pin out for the L-shaped connector. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
