Upgrade Dilema

You can see my specs in my sig. I can't decide on what to upgrade to. I was thinking of getting an Abit IC7 & a 2.4C & selling my mobo & cpu, but I really prefer AMD to Intel. So I've started thinking:

Either get

- PC3700 RAM
- Epox 8RDA+ for better ocin (sell a7n8x)
- Upgrade CPU to 3000 or wait for Barton 3200 to drop
- New Video Card

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ur system could benefit from a RAID 1 hard disk set-up (another 7200 RPM HD so one writes while the other reads)

Always more RAM is better. Standard recomendation: 1 Gygabyte

Otherwise ur system is A1. Save money for 64bit processor or look into dual CPU.

well pretty much everyone who has had one loved it, less problems than any other board most have said (and have owned many ofther NF2 boards). it also has more voltage options and is one of the few that fully supports higher multies (ie. on a 2100+ (and other higher multi chips or ones that have had the upper multies unlocked by blowing a bridge or 2) you can see all multies 13 and up, some you cant and you would have to hardcode it

the 64 bit processors sound good, but no software supports them. You'd probably have to get a hacked version of Windows or something just to run it, & then you's lose lots of performance on it so it be about equal the a 2700 or so.

Theres really no point in getting the Opteron, the mobos are expensive & they are meant for servers.

they do work iwth 32 bit software, just not always as well as with 64 bit, an dthey are expensive for just a desktop.

Your system is good for now. not much performance to be gained as things are now.

But...

When 64 bit computing hits the market I am pretty shure that everybody is going to get on the bandwagon. not only will there be software (recoded for 64 bit) but prices will drop too. and, yes, there is a 64 bit windows version floating around now so u can expect one for ur desktop soon ;)
