We pryed the old chip out (a k6 233) and now we put the new chip in and it won't fit all the way. It's the same size and pin count as the old one and I'm kinda wary of beating it in there. After we booted up and got nothing, I tried putting the old chip in and it wouldn't go in...I guess I should try really leaning on the thing to get it in there? I shouldn't break any pins cause they're all in their holes...just not that far in.

Thanks in advance

All socket7 CPU will fit all socket7 mobos.

Are you sure the socket is full opened when you try to put the CPU ?
Are you sure you put the CPU in the right position ? Only one orientation will fit in the socket.
ZIF = zero insertion force. You NEVER have to push the CPU, if all pins are matching the holes, it will fall in the socket and then you only have to close it.

Is the chip turned the right way? Are their any bent pins? Is it a Socket5 board? Socket5 has one less pin than Socket7 on an inside corner, check that out. . . . . . .
