AMD K6/2 500 overclock to 550 and computer resets??

I overclocked to the max on my board 5.5 2.3v and windows loads up nice and remains on untill i use alot of CPU power than it resets!? i even increased the volts little more and same thing?

Also running at 500Mhz my bios reconizes it at 400Mhz! I have windows2000 and it says its running at 501 not 400. with the settings at 5.0 2.2v?

What are you memory settings? It might be getting hot but I think when they get hot they just freeze and lock up. How are you temps? Make sure that you have really good cooling. I have read that these chips get pretty hot when overclocked. I had a 450 that I got to 550 but I had to use a peltier to get it to that speed.

what mobo are u doing this on m8 more info req. from u to give meaningfull answer but it sounds like an overtemp shutdown to protect the cpu
