I am in the market for a new camera, and I was hoping for some suggestions. I'm trying to keep it under 300, but if its like 330 I'll forgive you. This would be used only for personal use, and I really don't need that high end video recording functions and such what. Thanks in advance.

there is a thread on digicams in the general hardware section.
general rule is if you are just going to be using the camera for email pics and such, just get something with a 1MP res. If you are going to take pictures with printing them in mind, you would benefit the most by getting a camera with 2.1MP minimum.
the best camera is the one that suits your needs, so its mainly going to be up to your preferances. you will see ppl who swear by a certain brand regardless of quality and function. My advice to you is to gather as much info about the cameras within your budget, make a list of pros and cons, list intangibles, and see which camera is really best for you.
ps. check out dedicated digicam sites. they have great info on there.
Make sure the camera has optical zoom (if you need zoom).

Zoom is a good thing since I live in Central Florida it would be nice to get a clear shot of a NASA shot without driving down to the coast
I just bought the Fuji A303. It's a 3 megapixel camera with a 3X Optical/Digital Zoom. It's gotten tons of great reviews. The best part is I picked it up online for $242 shipped. Go to pricegrabber.com or some other online comparison site and search for it. I have been VERY pleased with the camera.
