If I can oc my duron 600 to 1ghz (i know sometimes the chances of that are slim but we can hope =) )
will it be better w/ 3d games than a 600 tbird oc'ed to 800 or is the duron hopelessly outmatched because of the tbirds bigger cache?(this is of course w/ the exact same setup on both cpu's--> same mobo..ram..video card)
any input is greatly appreciated

Check out this article, I think the Duron is definately a good competitor for the Tbird at those speeds. If you have the duron, heck even if you dont, Id go with it, at this point it doesnt make a lot of difference unless your doing really high end stuff, and alot of new technology is continuing to roll out every day.
I agree with Big Mike. The difference between an Duron @ 1gig and a T-bird @800 would be small if not equal. i have a buddy who has a D700 @ 1 gig, my system will beat him in benchmarks but in real world apps and games there is just a small noticable difference, not worth the money in my opion. Plus like Mike said new boards and cpu's are right around the corner and that means more upgrades for us. LOL. Just my 2 cents.
