Can't go wrong either way. I have some of the XMS and can get it up to 221 at 6-3-3-2. I bought my 512 stick back in January when it was $160, now it is sooooo cheap for any kind of memory.

Just the particular brand of generic crap a certain company builds its PC's with. As far as those two, they are both great DIMMS. I have had wonderful performance with Mushkin DIMMS as well.

for a dual channel nforce2 mobo...better to get 2 x 256 or 1 x 512?

you need at least two sticks to run in dual (get it, two=dual :P) channel. so get 2x256

All depends on your mobo and your preference.

I would say go with the HyperX though.
