View Full Version : AGP?
I have two motherboards. An Abit KT7 and Asus A7V. I noticed that on the asus the AGP slot is longer. What is the difference? Can all cards fit in the Abit KT7 and if not how can i tell which ones do? Also what is a good AGP video card for less than $100 that will see very little 3-D action? It will see some however.
The A7V has an AGP-Pro slot for AGP-Pro cards. The extra pins supply more voltage and are only really used on the expensive professional 3D cards. I've yet to find one.
The KT7 should take any card not designed for AGP-Pro, (just about every card) ie GeForces etc.
A good card for occasional 3D action would be a TNT2 or TNT2-Ultra IMO - they're still fairly fast without costing the earth.

I really have to disagree here. All of the TNT2s costing less than $50 on pricewatch are TNT2 Vantas which run SLOWER than an original TNT. TNT2s still cost in the $60 range and Ultras are around $80 or more. That's really a waste of money for how dated the card is.
If you want a cheap card get the Viper II, you can get one for about $40 and it is more recent than the TNT2. If you want a decent card, that doesn't cost a lot, get the Geforce 2 MX or the Radeon SDR.
TNT2s don't appear to be dropping in price much at all, and at the price they are, they are overpriced.
Daimond Viper 2 for $40? Where?
