I recently built an AMD T-Bird 900 system for a neighbor accross the street with a 300W powersupply, an Abit KT-7 RAID, 256 MB PC 133 RAM, Elsa Erazor X2 Geforce 256 Card and Soundblaster Live Value, IBM ATA 100 30GB HD. ......anyways what is occuring is after the system has been left idle, and is taken out of idle state the mouse starts to move really slow and the sounds starts to become distorted and a process or function really starts to bogg down(games, word, excel etc.) I have the stock heatsink that comes with it, and when I run MBM 4.17 it shows the CPU temps at 39C idle and 47C underload, I am wondering is the CPU just getting too hot or not mounted on correctly? I have checked the PS/2 mouse and it works fine on all of my 3 other computers. I checked the MB for scratches and anything totally obvious(loose connectors etc) I checked the mother board manual an it is all ok. Where most issues occur with this VIA chipset board is the fast writes and AGP 4x mode, works fine with or without, just when the system is left idle and finally touched again, it slows down. takes about 20 minutes for this to occur. Is my power supply putting out enough juice, I think so after running UT and Quake III and even Half Life under high res at 1600x1200. Or are there other problems, I have kept the power management settings at default and under Energy saving features, everything is set to never to prevent potential lockups. Even system standby is off, cause it never works right anyways. I have reinstalled the OS and even discharged the CMOS and it still does this. Is there any other suggestion that you all can think of. So far I have no IRQ conflicts either. Or is there something that I am not aware of. Please tell me that I had made a mistake somewhere I am open to constructive critisim, well some sarcasim too. hehe. All help or pointers are truely appreciated. -Jeremiahs@mindspring.com
