read an article just a little while ago that said amd was going to start shipping durons and tbirds without the pins necessary to use the multiplier function disabling most of the oc capability .... is this true

not sure the ship date ... but purchased my duron 700mz (oc@950mz) with pins Y1 , Y3 & W1 , W3 - intact about a week ago

I heard about this also a while ago, but as far as I know, they haven't actually taken the pins off of any of them....
