I recently overclocked my Duron 800 mhz to
1 ghz. I have an ASUS A7V mb and a Global Win FOP32-1 heatsink and fan. The combo is running between 49C and 55C. Is this acceptable? What is a safe upper limit?

thanks,

Chris

It's a safe temp, however for your setup it seems a little high, Im running a Tbird 750@900 at 1.85 volts with a global win FOP38 <same heatsink, bigger fan, but not that much bigger> and i see 41C maximum under load.

Shreddz-

What do you have for case cooling? I might just be a case of inadiquate case cooling.

I have to agree with Jeff. My 1 gHz Bird at 1210 mHz idles at 37 and tops out at 43 degrees with a FOP 32.

Does your PSU have a fan underneath drawing out the heat from your CPU (ala AMD specs)? Do you have an exhaust fan at the rear of the case sucking the heat from your cards and CPU out (preferably below the PSU if you have a full tower case)? Do you have enough fresh air coming in? Is your airflow balanced? You should have a bit more total CFM coming into the case than blowing out so you don’t suck a bunch of dust through your drives.
