Just a quick question for the ever helpful peeps out there.
I'm just about to buy a mobo/cpu/cooler/case combo withi which to start my o/cing exploits. I've done a lot of reading on the subject and intend to do some more when I get started. There's just one thing I can't seem to find and answer to.

My question is,

If I buy an Abit KT7 (see, I *have* been reading) and, say, a Duron 700, do I need to buy a pre-frigged Duron in order to overclock it , or can I just as easily overclock a bog-standard off-the-shelf Duron with this mobo???????

Thanks in advance guys. I know you can help me.

Not sure what "pre-frigged" is, but any duron can be OCed after connecting th L1 bridges with a .5mm mechanical #2 pencil. Hope this answered you question.

My suggestion would be just to go ahead and buy a pre-tested Duron and just go with a safe bet. Or you might take the chance and "Just Say NO to Pre-Tested CPUs," and just take a chance on not getting the performance range you are probably looking for. Remember different Week Durons have different tolerances. You can pick up a Duron 650 pre-tested @ 1000mhz at ocz.safeshopper.com. About the motherboard, I suggest you go with the Asus AV7. Dont ask me why but Asus are usually more stable. About the cooler I suggest either a GlobalWin FOP38 or a Copper Hedgehog Cooler. I have a hell of a good case that I can recommend to you. You ever seen the cases from Alienware? If you havent then you should check alienware.com out and see them. Alienware is a manufacturer of high performance gaming systems. They are very highly renoun and I live about 1/2 a mile away from their building here in Miami, FL. If you want you can pick one of these cases up at Directron.com.
