View Full Version : First look at Athlon XP 3200+!!!

No benchmarks released yet but they have several pictures of the CPU itself. The article is in Traditional Chinese.
Special stuff is the new look of the CPU (notice the placement of AMD logo and Assembled in Malaysia marking). The CPU is unlocked.
Heat dissipation of 3000+ (400FSB) and 3200+ are 68.3W and 76.8W respectively.
On page 2, they've raised a question that WinXP SP1 can't unleash the full potential of the Athlon XP CPUs, due to a flaw in SP1 that prevent the benchmarks/software from using 3D Now! and SSE optimisations, which resulted in poorer results in Content Creation benchmarks. AMD has released a patch and I ain't sure if it's available on AMD's site yet. :D

K in DKV4E means 1.65 V rated Vcore.
E in DKV4E stands for 400 FSB.

There is only one stepping,
AQUCA and its probally 0310, 0309 or 0306
The AQXCA is coming out with the 3200+ CPUs and should be passed down eventually to the 2500+ Bartons

The big deal is that not everyone's CPU/mobo can do that kind of FSB, and the Nforce2 Ultra boards will be coming out along with these new 200mhz FSB CPUs - they're guaranteed to run 200mhz FSB.
Plus, it's just something new.

i dont think the vcore has anything to do with how high you can set the FSB.
The FSB relies on your ram and chipset
in my case i have ram rated for 200mhz so 20mhz isnt much, and same with my chipset

Not quite true, AQXCA stepping Barton 2500+'s have been appearing on Usenet for a few weeks already (25th of April & 6th of May) :
Subject: 2500 Barton Stepping Code: AQXCA Anyone else have this? - alt.comp.hardware.overclocking.amd (http://tinyurl.com/blou)

I know this is straying a bit form the current topic of the steppings, but does this imply AMD is releasing a patch for XP? I'm sure M$ will luv that.....

I have just built a XP3200 ,Asus A7N8X-Deluxe, 1Gig Corsair XMS Twin-X PC3200ll, Radeon 9800 Pro 128 DDR, Antec 1080 AMG Case ,Antec 430 True Power, 1 SATA Raptor 10,000 RPM HD (Master C:) 1 120 Gig WD 8mg 7200 RPM HD
WINXP Home All the updates
Ati Drivers (latest catalyst for 9800's) and the NVidia Unified drivers no IDE SW driver
3DMark 2001SE Build 330 17,499
3DMark03 5717
Sisoft Sandra Memory Bandwidth 3300
Unfortunately i built this for a customer and had to release it after a weekend of America's Army , CounterStrike and various testing ( for stability you know) and i was gonna try my hand at a brief article on the XP3200's but unfortunately my USB flashdrive i had all of the screenshots and stuff died on me (i noticed right after i reformated the drive to send it to it's new home)so my idea went down the tubes.damnit!
But here are the codes off the chip, this is a retail chip , not OEM
AXDA3200DKV4E 9452253260024
AQXDA0312UPDW
Also BTW this chip came bundled with a factory COPPER heatsink! looked exactly the same as the XP2100 Heatsink but was made of copper
