ok bro!!
is this a k62+550 or a k62550
and what voltage settings are u using dude for the cpu core voltage
how are you trying to get to 550mhz is it by 100mhz fsb and 5.5 multiplier to give 550mhz or are u trying to get 550mhz by doing 110mhz fsb and 5.0 multiplier
(this gives a better overall performance)
post us back and well help you out

well i got it at 5.5 x 100mhz bus , i am using 2.3 volt core like the chip says i have tryed different bus and multipller cobinations and that is the only one that works chip just gets to hot! my mother board doesnt have 110mhz it has 112 but i get boot errors whit that

The K6-2+ 550 is suppose to run at 2.0 V. try it at that voltage. if you have the regular k6-2 550 then it is suppose to run at 2.3 volts.

I set up a K62+ 500 for a friend, and the voltage was 2.1 I think, anyway it'd definately less than the standard 2.3-2.5 v of the K6-2 line. Maybe it's producing too much heat, so I agree with lowering your voltage, and try again.

I have the same chip and board ,and had the same problem. The problem is heat.I put a large heat sink and thermal compound ,and the problem has been corrected.Try it!

little late, but i suggest using k63+450, this chip uses .18micron technology, runs at a default voltage of 2.0, and works great at overclocking( ran 450@575mhz) on a gigabyte ga5ax (5 x 115=575). chip ran really cool with cheap heatsink and fan. designed for notebooks, but will run in most newer s7 boards supporting 2.0v core.

good luck...
(ps- did run k62550 in ga5ax, would not run much above 600....550 stable.)
