okay just did a virus scan and nothing but i have a
"trace.log" that is 27,600,224,256 kb and apears to be growing
it also wont let me delete it?
"cannot delete trace: it is being used by another person or program
close any programs that might be using thie file
its path is
c:\windows\system32\logfiles\wmi
anyideas

sounds like you're running tracelog and you can't delete the file because tracelog.exe is writing to it.

TechIMO (http://www.techimo.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7403&highlight=trace) forum has some ideas about the problem. The registry edit on the second page of discussion seems to have worked best.

I've written infinate loops while writing data to text files. With the speed of a modern computer, it takes no time at all to build up large files. From what people were saying in the forum I linked, it looks like some sort of logger went nuts and started logging everything. Have you run bootvis lately? That appeared to be a commonality among the respondents toward the end of the linked thread.

all is well
there is a stop tracking option in boot vis
i guess my computer being on for like 26 days didnt help
but when i restarted the log was gone
