Hi I got an K6-2 450 and it is running at 60°c and I have not overclocked it so is that way too hot? If yes then what5 temp should it be running at?

Way too hot! It should run about 45C at the upper end. Make sure that your CPU fan is still running and that there is thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink. Also double check the I/O voltage. If my memory serves ma correctly, it should be at 2.8V - but please double check me on this.

I have a k6/2 550 system that stock ran about where you are running now ... with mods it started running hotter and eventually had some serious stablity problems... (by the way if you system starts to lock when this happens lay off the reset button ... otherwise we will have matching keychains) .. when i rebuilt it i did the following: 1) bought a real heatsink and fan 2) and cut the case and installed two case fans (one intake and one exhaust) this got me down to the 51 degrees but these chips run hot!!! it made for a good system to build a water cooler for .... it now runs @ 43 degrees

the voltage on this cpu is either 2.2 or 2.4, whichever the chip states
