after reading my mother board manual for the 50th time today I realized that abit has put two types of FSB settings on the kt7 raid

first one sets the FSB higher to the PCI and the AGP slots 2nd one only changes the setting between the cpu and the chip set

the 3rd thing I did was set my ram settings to cas2 (mushkin 128 rev 3)

after changing these to things I was able to boot and run in windows for about 2 hours then it locked up

this is the longest that I've ran that high with out extra cooling might be on to something

if I put a peltier on my bird what size should I get and will it work with my hog??

i would get a tomleufkins kit or a swiftec kit

if anything i would use at least a 85 watter but that cou should have a 118 watter it the heatsink can take it

Azzkicker is right on that one the leukin kit should do the trick but you may have to go with more than 85 watts with bird since its going to generate alot of heat at that oc speed, and I would go with the kit that comes with an alpha pep 66 coolers with it because you are going to have to dissapate alot of heat with with that big pelter, whatever you do don't go under 85 watts or youll be able to roast marshmellows without a fire. also you may need an additional power supply for the extra load, maybe a water cooling kit would be better in your case..

Kat,

Your Bird seems to be running parallel to mine. I managed to hit your mark today. Knowing increasing the CPU speed is the same as increasing the FSB, I never tried it. Thanks for jogging my brain! Plus one on the CPU put the FSB at 113 and it works. WCPUID shows 12146 mHz. Been running Prime all afternoon. I did have to up the core voltage to 1.94. You may only need to increase your voltage to get it stable. Watch your temps!

Regarding cooling, it seems if you are go to push your Bird hard, you should seriously consider water cooling, with or without a peltier. It’s going to be a couple of weeks until the water cooling gear I want is available. In the meantime my 120mm fans get cold air ducted from outside.

Try http://www.millisec.com/ for Leufken’s products. They have better prices, better service and won’t sell you that abysmal Iced Copper.

DONT BY 118 W peltier for this bird, forget it. If you are going to try peltier and you want a temp drop that really matters you will need MUCH larger peltier. Belive me I happen to know.

A 118w peltier does not produce any temp difference under the heat load from a 1200mhz+ TBird.

If you really are serious in trying I say FORGET anything under 150W, Try 200W+. You need watercooling with peltiers on amd chips too.

The best thing you can do is to get watercooling alone, that gives better cooling that any air/peltier setup.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT---STOP TALKING. ;)
