I hear alot about the asus and abit boards but what about soyo boards, I have 2 soyo sy-k7vta boards and there like a dream come true they have dip switches for the multiplier adjustments and also you can set up the jumpers to allow you to adjust the fsb and multiplier from the award bios, the board is capable of 200mhz system interface speeds and the fsb is adjustable in the 100/133 range, I have one that is running a AMD Duron 650@900 mhz stable as a rock 100mhz fsb and the other I am building with a AMD Duron 750 and hoping to break the 1ghz range with my 128meg pc133, the boards have multiple fan sockets so you can control the case fan and both cpu fans directly from the bios. I personally think this board is an excellent choice for overclocking... what do yall think.

but soyo is a "second" when it comes to quality and stabllity

so most people run AMD and ABIT ....WHY because there the best

To each their own I guess. Unless you've read all the articles about the new board and the design changes that have been made the new sy-k7vta is definitly a tweakers board, read the article by anandtech and you'll see the light, I mean come on you have 16 multiplier settings between 5 and 12.5 and you have many options as to what you want to do with the fsb,, read the articles and reviews, nuff said,, I've got proof of their overclocking potential and stability , do you? As your momma always said don't put all your eggs in one basket...

abit, asus , and msi have been on top for a while from what I've read and for adjustments it seems as though I might have a few more than you 83 in all

oh ya and buy the way that's an interesting way you have of starting a conversation ...

Well sorry if I came off alittle strong but I never hear about soyo boards in this forum and to be quite honest they are a good overclocking board as to the total amount of adjustments I'm not really sure because it also allows all your voltage adjustments via the bios in .025 increments. these statemants are just my opionion and when azzwhatever came across like that I got a little offended you know , I have nothing against other boards as I have not yet worked with them so I can't knock them I can only add my input of expeiences with my boards and how easy and stable they are to work with. th ne soyo i a very good product. thats all I know.

Well said and taken into consideration but always stay open minded nobody knows all. and if you didn't realize anandtech also stated that the boards are alot alike as far as quality and functionality goes...

Ok, he may not be a hardware reviewer, but take it with a grain of salt, if a few people comment on this board being good, it might be worth a look. If you turn people off, they won't post about these things, and you may never know if a new board is good or not.
We can all learn from each other if we are just willing to listen, even from yours, or my point of view.

i agree with AZZKICKER, Abit KT7 Raid is the best mobo for Tbirds and Duron right now, and that's a fact not just opinion.

Bullet.

maybe but the abit board is also twice as expensive , I am just stating that soyos new board as far as my experienc is worth a look at..

well m8's the mobo I like for durons/T.birds is the soltek SL75KV2-X mobo not only is it cheap it's also got loads of features and is well laid out ocworkbench and others have given it good reviews
plus they've just launched the kt133a version which has also had good reviews also

kt133a is where its going to be

anyway im not sturring fires ok

for me soyo means burnt P3 700 i cryed for a week because at the time i couldnt replace it when they were 400 bucks +

MSI for me means blue screen from hell

also the msi board primary and secondary controler went out in 2 days

also i read reviews everyday

abit and asus out performs EVERYTHING

and everyone always says that abit and asus is more stable

there right

ASUS is the best performing and most stable boards out

it might not be the overclockers dream boat like the abit boards but abit is just behind asus in performance

and your talking aboiut cost's

you get what you pay for

thats the truth

ask around to some of the people that has been in this foprum for 6+moinths and they all know me

i might not have all the overclocking exsperence as Joe or Dan and SurlyJoe but i do know my ****

i learned from the best and besides i have my edge on them like they have one on me...there is time....mine is im a electronics engineer

i know how and why boards work and vid cards work and there paths and when sharky is explaining stuff, that over 3/4 of the people who read it has no clue what he is talking about,(thats because he is on my level) i understand and know that stuff man...

look if you pay 180 bucks for a asus board you will be asured that your getting the best money can but

if you buy a 110 msi board then you know for sure that you just got a ok board

or a soyo (to me there killers) your getting a board...just a board..not knowing if its going to be stable or if its going to work at all

but seriously get a name brand board

dont EVER! slack when it comes to a board

other things you can slack on....like sound card or even vid card

you know settel for a g force instead of a g force2 if that decides on how much you got for a board

if the board is S**T the the hole system is S**T

by saying this i dont want anyone offened

i just through it out on the table is all

CAN I GET A AMEN

I have had bad luck with Soyo boards. Lost a PII 450 to one of them. I have to admit that unlike Abit, Soyo has fantastic support via telephone. Still I would not trade my KT7-Rs for anything Soyo makes!

My old system was an celermine 566@812 with Soyo 6vba 133. The only down side was the slow memory transfer(via chipset...). Aside this, that was a overcloking queen!!! Fast, reliable, well finished and a good support. Oh, and only costing 45% less than similar Asus (here in Brazil)!

well this thread may be spent here ... but i will put forth my 'experience' anyway ....

i started out on soyo boards and loved them for the ease of setup .... i mean in nothing flat you could rip through there manual and be up and running in no time .... but when it came time for me to tweak on them ... between frying chips and flashing the bios into oblivion i decided to try something else .... once i switched to abit i kick myself for staying with soyo for as long as i did .... the bottom line for me is abit worth the money .... YES!!!

'do or do not ... there is no try'
