I'm well unhappy - my battlefield had a VERY tiny crack in it near the center, about 1.5mm long. Didn't worry about it too much, until today when the crack suddenly shot out to half way towards the outside. Totally useless.

Thing is, while I can get it replaced ($7.50 charge as its 2 weeks outside the 90 day limit) I can't find any address for the UK (where I am). I would rather not pay for all that postage AND the $7.50 charge. Anyone know anything?

Oh, and has anyone had any lucj getting the Desert Combat/Road to Rome combo to work?

both bf1942 cd's are play cd's, if one is cracked you can still use the other to play. If you need the cd to reinstall just dl an iso and burn it and keep playing off the other cd.

thats what i did I play off cd2 and have a burned backup of cd1

h/o, would u have to pay that to EA to get new disks? If not, I suggest contacting them. This was suggested to me in on eof my threads. I think u send in the broken ones and they send u new ones or something. Secondly, You can download desert combat for RtR at www.desertcombat.com (for some reason that wasnt working fo rme, in which case google Desert Combat and click on the desertcombat.com one)

Im assuming that you're not using that cracked cd now but just in case...

exploding cd roms (http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/consumer/top10/cdcrack/cd1.htm)

I'd get a replacement right away.

No, not using it now. Doesn't work even if I wanted to use it! As for paying EA, apparently you have to pay $7.50 (however much that is) if its outside the 90 day warranty period. I don't mind paying that, but would rather not spend twice that on postage!!

I did download Desert Combat RtR from the site, but when I use it the background is missing, and it quits to desktop when I start a game. Well annoying. Still, standard DC should be enough for my net meet (anyone in Mid Wales welcome to come along - cash prizes for wnning tournaments!).

come on, you guys know we dont talk about downloading isos, its borderline warez, and the forums doesnt allow it.

well im definetly getting onto EA after hearing this...my CD two di the EXACT same thing - started off with a tiny crack in the centre that I thought nothing of and now has two cracks going through atleast half the radius in both directions - its completely unusable, I have to use my friends second cd if I want to reinstall!

well you can copy a friends CD (im gonna guess this is ok to post since he owns the game an dyou pay for the privlage of using software not for the software) using Clone CD for the install and you can make it work for plaing if you set it up right, that wway you dotn hve to pay ffor a new one.

yeah i would too, i mean i have no problems at all about stuff like that, i mean he bought it he should be able to back it up if he wants, im just trying to point out the warez issue, thats all.

Same thing happened to my Civ 3 CD. It cost me $11 in shipping to ship it back, but I got another copy of it. Took forever for it to get here though. Well thats why I copy my game CDs now (no I don't make copies for other people, they want a copy I tell them to buy the game).
