View Full Version : Why can't I get on pump that lasts!!!!!
As of today I have had one via aqua 1300 and one Eheim 1250 completely die on me. My replacement Eheim is leaking everywhere and my NEW maxi-jet that has only been running for 3 weeks is making a horrible grinding noise that has steadily gotten worse and now the pump sputters on and off. Why the heck can't I have one pump last longer than 3 months?!?!?! This is getting ridiculous!!!! All the systems have had a tablespoon of water wetter with distilled water in them. corrosion isn't the problem. It's enough to drive a man to go back to air!!!! did I mention my 1700@1.65v@1.8GHZ is running 50C with the eheim 1250 and chevette core with the swiftech mcw372. Those temps are on die so they're accurate and horrible at that. they go down to 47 at idle. What's the deal?!?!? thanks for listening errr... reading my ranting :)

3C delta between load and idle is good, not bad. I'd say give the Danner series of pumps a try. I'm very happy with mine. :)

what i wanna know is why cant i get a pump thats quiet? i mean they all sound fine if you just dump em into a bucket of water, not hooked up to anything, and run it. but as soon as you put it into the waterloop, ie..add a block, rad, etc.. they all start makin racket. its as if resistance makes the impeller knock around. it drives me nuts. ive tried a danner 700gph, its real bad about it, now i got a little giant300gph and its not much better. temps are the same tho.
those are all huge pumps!! maybe your running cooling blocks on your GPU etc.. but the minimum you really need is around 150 GPH So those pumps you are running are huge, that's why they are loud "you could drain a lake" anyways.. you have a good heater core so maybe there isnt enough airflow on it, are you running a shroud?? how big of a fan? I know these are stupid questions but you gotta ask these" also where is your pump located? is it 3 ft under your desk?
why DO pump die so fast? i always hear people's dying. do you guys like throw your pump against the wall?
Haven't abused any of mine and all the systems are self contained within the case

can stand up to abuse - you can step on it to no prob.
but quality dont come cheap :) as always.
I've been very satisfied with the pump - it's also dead quiet
Maybe there is something amiss with the power supplied to your pumps then. Brownouts and spikes could possibly damage the equipment. Just guessing here, but it sounds like you have had too many failures to be likely due to general failure rates.

I agree with fizz. That kind of failure rate is very high for otherwise "bulletproof" pumps. Make sure they're run to an APC/UPS if you're prone to power spikes or failures.
