Tired of my aluminum T-bird 800 only getting to 840.
Need another toy, what's the cheapest Duron I can get a hold of that can hit 1GHz with air cooling? This won't replace my T-bird, I just want another socket A chip, and another benchmarking toy. I'm using an ASUS A7V

i had a 600 duron at 1000 1.9v 1100 with a voltage mod on my a7v but a duron 650 is cheaper than the 600 now so id give that a try

In a bizarre twist of pricing-fate the Duron 650 is actually less expensive than the 600.

Hey

The Duron 650 i got the voltage hack tests hit 1.03ghz with air cooling. So i'd say they will all oc fairly well

950mhz pretty much a sure bet on any duron, but to get 1 ghz you may need the voltage hack.

I've got the same MoBO, only the 2-A version..
Download the newest bios driver from www.MSI.com.tw and seach for the newest BIOS driver that is specially intended for overclocking... then when you set your voltage to 1.85 it will run at 1.9 Volts (not much but it is something..)

My 650 is at 1ghz with only 1.75v.

sounds like to if your only getting 840 then your only FSB clocking

use the multiplyer !

T Bird 850 @1045mhz @ 1.89 volts (set to 1.85 but showing 1.89 volts)

if your clueless to what im saying then ill hel;p you through it

Just thought I'd chime in and mention that I just traded my Duron 700 (which was stable @950 1.825 Vcore) for a Duron 650 which is happy @1000 1.775 Vcore...couldn't get my 700 to even post @1000 1.85Vcore, but this 650 will boot into windows @1050 and run mostly stable till I fire up some 3D apps. Temp never rises above 113 deg. with full load, and idles @85 deg. ...using FOP38.
