IM looking to buy some sub 100$ headphones, willing to spend 100$ max, so far i was looking at the seinheiser hd500 @ newegg for 89$. The headphones will be for gaming, and music, all hard rock and metal. Games like CS, Daoc, morrowind, avp2.. etc etc warcraft3 bla bla bla

My soundcard is NF7-S Nvidia Soundstorm, which i can honestly say is better then my audigy gamer which is in a friends old computer now. I dont need any fancy wireless techonology or sound dampening just some good, COMFORTABLE headphones... i emphasize comfortable because i have a friend with some sr grotto thingies that sound real nice but hurt to wear for longer then 5 minutes...

Haha, your SR something is the Grado SR series, right?
I would still recommend the Grado SR-60 (http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicID=3&subTopicID=26&productID=0020090060) or the SR-80 (http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicID=3&subTopicID=26&productID=0020090080) for your price range, quite honestly, all the Sennheiser's model below the HD580 isn't that much better than a pair of Sony IMHO. The SR-60 will fit your soundstorm's power souce quite perfectly, and they are cheaper too.

If you want comfortable, make sure they completely cover your ears. So the pads are resting against your head. I have a pair of Senn 590's that are very comfortable. I can wear them for hours without a problem. If comfort is a big issue go to a store that sells them and try them on. I went to "Tweeter" in the NE, they have a decent selection.

But those will put direct pressure on the ear, making them uncomfortable.
