View Full Version : I got a AMD 400 (need help overclocking it)!!!

Hey i need some help on overclocking how do i do it if you can help me Email me at onfire696969@aol.com
cause i can not find out how to on my bios and i got a 12x cd burner and how would i get max speed on it.. Both my burner and cd rom are hooked on the same ide line.
CD-Rom= master
HP 1500 12x=slave

Well, Id assume that you indeed have a K6-2 400 cpu, right?? If so, then there should be jumpers on the mobo that will adjust the chip multiples. Now, a K6 series cpu doesnt OC well unless you have ridiculous cooling but it should get you 450 or perhaps 500.

DO you have heatsink compound on the chip? These things run hot and need it.

Do you have the mobo manual handy? There should be a chart in there for setting up the multipliers. Youd see like 4x, 4.5x, etc. You want 4.5x to start with.

That same manual should also have the settings for changing the voltages on the cpu. Do *this* only if you have to ......most older mobos dont give you a lot of leeway to safely do K6s.

If you have a prebuilt job with a proprietary mobo youre probably stuck since they aint gonna tell you where to move the jumpers.
