Hey guys,

I am in the process of building a new computer for my girlfriend's parents, my budget is about 500 dollars right now and I think right now I have my vendor choises narrowed down to either Newegg.com , SVC.com , or Excaliburpc.com . Since im not paying with my own money for this, I really dont want to have any shipping problems, so I was wondering which of these would be the best customer service, shipping, and quality wise. Also if you have any other suggestions where I could get a nice system for around 500, i would love to hear it.

newegg.com for just there no hassle thing.

Agreed, Newegg is always the way to go. Their prices aren't the absolute lowest, but it is worth it when something goes wrong. I have ordered from cheaper companies that have not even shipped my order after a month!!! Not a problem with Newegg. How much is the stress worth to you, surely a few dollars for not having to have it is fair.

I decided to go with newegg.com , so far the only problem I have right now is that since im paying for it with someone elses credit card (the person im buying it for), the shipping address is different than billing address, so I have to wait for that person to call up the bank and add my address to their info, and then Im supposed to call newegg after I do this. I hope it works out, anyone else had problems like this?

I wonder if you would be better off just shipping to the person whose credit card it is, and then collecting the equiptment when it all comes in, is that an option?

I would if I could, but the person is leaving on vacation for a month so they wont be there.

I built a computer for someone with their credit card and had it sent to me and there was no problem at all. I don't even think they called to check, but they might have and my uncle maybe didn't tell me.

I'm sure they called. Newegg will not ship to a address that is not listed with the credit card company. Its a security thing and I for one like it. If the person who's card you are using contacts the CC co. there will be no problem.

Alright, I will try to find out if they called.

I am pretty sure my uncle would have told me, but maybe he forgot.

Im hoping it all worked out well, ill have to wait till monday to see because they dont work on weekends, but at the worst the order would just be canceled.
