stange thing about duron pencil trick

I was just wondering.....the pencil trick used to work for my CPU, but now it somehow doesn't work anymore, when i change the multiplier, my cpu starts at 500mhz (it's originally a 800mhz)

how do i the pencil trick again ?
can i remove the graphite somehow ?

must to had not enough in a spot and worked for a few but then it it burnt that hirline mark
