i noticed some have a Tbird 750 running at 900mhz and next to A7V it says(Raid Modded) i take it that the Raid modded means that you did the Vcore increase mod to your motherboard right?

If i do the mod to my a7v could i get my t bird 800 past 870mhz??

Thanks for any advice

the RAID mod and the voltage mod is 2 differnt things

here is the voltage mod http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/00q3/000928/

i just did it and running my T Bird 850 @ 1063mhz
104F @ 2.14 volts

So then what is the Raid mod? What does it do?
Whats it good for?

Azzkicker how do you cool your Tbird? with what brand heatsink and fan?

Thanks

mine is homemade with 2 60mm sunon fans on it

RAID = Redundant Array of Independant Drives. Seeing as that probably doesn't help much, I'll explain. Raid uses 2 drives working in tandem to give better performance, with a number of different settings. It can write the same information to both drives at once, giving you one backup drive with an exact copy of the other drive. Alternatively, it can write alternate lines of data to the each drive at the same time, giving twice the speed. I think there are other settings but those are the two I know about - basically if you only have one hard drive you won't be able to use RAID, so it's not worth doing the mod.

Just spotted your original question - you should be able to get past 870 without the voltage mod - I'd have thought 900 or 950 would be quite easy. If you're just using the fsb to overclock then you're already at 109MHz fsb, and you may well not get any higher than that on a KT133 board (like the A7V). Try changing the multiplier if you haven't already, and remember the A7V allows up to 1.85V for the vcore, so don't do the volt mod until you're using the max voltage on the board.

High temps could also be a limiting factor - try to keep below 50C, it'll need some case cooling (ie extra fans), but it'll help (45C and under is quite possible with aircooling - just look at Azz). Post with a bit more info (what combination of fsb*mutliplier you're using, what cooling you have, what temps, what vcore etc.), and I'm sure someone can work out how to get that bird running faster :-)

if your looking for modded raid links for the a7v try these

http://www.stormpages.com/crazyape/
http://www.tweakhardware.com/guide/a7v-raid/

i'm going to try it as soon as i get my second hd.
it'll be worth it coz' 60mb/sec is a nice transfer rate.

Thanks guys for all the Information its help me alot with my overclocking experience.

When i first tryed to overclock my Tbird800 with a Asus A7V to 850 what i did was set the Vcore to 1.75 and then set my Multiplyer on my motherboard to 8.5x and the FSB was at 100 then i raised the fast to 106 the speed of the CPU changed to then it got close to 900 mhz but windows would not load it would give me errors and blue screens. So i tried to raise the Vcore to 1.85 and got the same results windows wouldnt load. So i changed the FSB back to 100 and tryed again windows still didnt load. Then i tryed to get it up to 900 mhz with setting the multiplyer to 9.0x with vcore at 1.85x but when i powered my computer it just wouldnt load. So i changed it back to 850mhz and here i am not getting it to 900. or ever 950 or 1 ghz if possible. Need some help.

The CPU is running at 56C thats at prime being used all day. I have 4 case fans and its still that high. MB is running at 33C.

Can anyone help me out by giving me some tips on how i can get to 900mhz or 950mhz if possible 1 ghz?

I was looking to do a Voltage mod to my motherboard Asus A7V would that help any?

Thanks again

you need better cooling bro

55C is high

what cooler you have??

I have a Cooler Master Cooler.

Does the Heat have anything to do with me not being able to get to 900mhz on my Tbird800? with a asus A7V?

Thanks

i beleave so my friend

the cooler the higher

name of the game

are you useing the thermal pad that came with the heatsink?

There wasnt any kind of thermal pad that came with the heatsink and fan. When i took it out there was a little soft pinkish orange pad on the bottom of the heatsink. I am not 100% sure if thats what thermal pad or not.

If i got a new Heatsink and fan what would you recommend me putting on the heatsink before putting it onto my CPU? Thermal Paste?? Where can i get Thermal paste at?

radio shack
its called heatsink compound there
same thing

im sure its the thermal pad
(the pinkish thing)
scrap it off with a razor blad and use the thermal compound
