I just assembled my new computer...Tyan KT133 and a Tbird 1.1GHZ. Yes, I know the Tyan isnt exactly an overclockers choice, but I'm not an overclocker.
I need to know what can be done to keep this thing cool? I have a Cooler Master DP5-6H51 which is recommended by AMD and some arctic silver to seal it. Yet it still runs at 61.4C (142.5 F)
Any ideas??

try a pelt and a fop32 or a watter colling kit.

Try removing the case cover. It may drop your temp in 10C. If it cool down, it's sign to better colling for your case...

I have a KT7-R and the Thunderbird 1.1ghz like you and on full load my CPU remains at 39C (99F) ...

I'm only using a FOP38 with stock thermal pad! Go get one!

Temps that high can't be down to a poor hsf alone, it must be a combination of that and poor case cooling. You don't have to go overboard, just put in a couple of 120/80mm fans - 120mm are better because you can get a high air flow with less noise. Anything around 70cfm should be fine, and pretty quiet (I have 3 105cfm 120mm fans, they're loud!)

open your box and point a small table fan at it ,on a 45degree angle, if the temp drop`s a lot then it`s case cooling problem if it drop`s a little then it`s a heat sink problem
