My dad's new system (Tbred 2100, 512 PC2700 ) I just built was running at 13 X 155 Folding away fine. I started playing with the FSB and went too high (166) and folding@home got an Illegal operation error and closes on startup, even backed down at 133 it still crashes on startup. WTF! Anything I should test? I am bringing the Memtester program over now to test it, any other suggestions?
Thanks!

On my p4 3ghz, if i push the fsb to high, f@h stuffs up. When I bring it back down, its fine however. Try first if you've got the GUI version, deleting the whole folding and reinstalling it, or if you've got the console version, just delete everything except fah3console, and set it up again.
If this dosen't work, re-download the install file. It should just be a problem isolated to F@H if thats the only thing getting the error.

It gets an error on other programs too. I guess it's format and re-install time. Do you guys think I damaged the drive? It's a 26 Gig IBM drive from 1999 that was in the old gateway 2000. I hope I didn't f*#k it up...
Nah I don't think you messed it up.
A reformat should solve all your problems.

It doesn't sound like you hurt any hardware. Windows may need reinstalled now. Hope dad is understanding...

Yeah, he won't know, I'll do it on Monday when he's gone. I knew I wasn't done benchmarking it yet! I should have waited until the AS3 was set in first before giving it back. And BTW, at that speed he's seeing 52C or so on the stock heatsink and fan with AS3 on it and the North Bridge. Now I just need to get him something larger so I can OC his higher for more WU!!!!
