I have an EPox EP-MVP3G5 Socket 7 mobo with an AMD K6-2/550 CPU (I'm not sure what K6-2 it is, but the chip itself says it is 2.3v Core).

I've tried several things to overclock, but no success yet. For instance, I tried putting the multiplier at 2.0 (for the 6.0 setting), and it boots up, and identifies it as 100 Mhz * 6.0 = 600 Mhz, but it won't load windows. So I tried 5.5 x 112 Mhz, but that hangs up at the "PCI device listing...." I've tried making changes in the BIOS and with jumpers, but no help. I also have tried each of the above setting with the SDRAM Clock selection jumper set at AGP (2/3 CPU Clock) and CPU.

I've got a golden orb fan installed, and the operating temp is reported to be at about 50 degrees celsius. Memory-wise, I've got two 64M SDRAM installed (one is PC-100 and the other is PC-133).

Do you have any advice on what I should try next?

yo man
try upping the cpu's core voltage one step at a time ie. 2.3vcore to 2.4vcore etc. and u should find it'll post up but keep an eye on the cpu's tempeartures or u will be sorry if it posts but hangs/fails to verify the dmi pool try upping the I/O voltage to 3.4v or 3.5v from 3.3v I'd also look for a better cooler than the G orb maybe a taisol 742092 fits with a little tweaking and cools far better m8 use arctic silver thermal transfer paste between heatsink base and cpu cap also try it with the pc100 out
if it's a cheapo it could be holding u back
have a look at the other amd k62 posts for more ideas

good luck
