Hey, hows it'a going.
I am going to ask a favor of everyone that reads this. This is a bit of a long proboblem, but who else can i turn to?
I am getting an AMD t-bird 800 and planning to overclock, i was going to get a "mega fan and heatsink" as they call it, from the company. It's specs are: 18cubic feet, and 4800 RPM's/ I don't know more than that. I was thinking about getting the one w/out a fan and geatsink but than i realized it only came w/ a 15 day warranty. However... If i overclock at all... would it be voiding the warranty on it anyway...? I was going to get a great fan like a PEP or something that can blow the house down. So... i guess that the question is>will overclocking void the warranty of the CPU?
if it depends> please explain/
Thanks so much and guess what...
YOU made it through my little novel!!!

I would more than certainly think it does, however your average Joe PC World employee isn't going to have the means to test if you've been overclocking it or not.. (unless you leave the pencil marks on it!)

The only probablem might be convincing them what the cause of it breaking was.

Cheers!

I had similar thoughts myself, decided to save the money and not buy the extra fan to get the warrantee.. I wouldn't really use anything like that anyway, sure they might call it the super-mondo-bestest-in-the-world heatsink but that doesn't change what it is -- a generic heatsink. However, with the warrantee, you could probably overclock and get away with it.. As long as they can't tell (and by just looking at it how can they?) they won't know.. So, decide whether the warrantee is worth it. As fast as the things drop in price I decided to pass up the warrantee..
