When you want to discharge the cmos, must you take out the battery? I have the jumper set the discharge right now, with the battery in, and the power unplugged...how long will it take?

No you don't need to remove the battery. It seems like you have done everything properly as you have described so just wait for a couple of minutes & your done.

I always just use a ten second count and that's always been enough time for mine, Abit, Tyan, Asus, PCChips, or Shuttle.

I stayed with the one minute suggested by Abit. Worked perfectly.
