Im getting new mobo, cpu and ram and HS&F
mobo: Abit KT7-Raid
Cpu:AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.2 Blue Core
Ram: 256MB of pc133 SDRAM DIMM
HS&F: Swiftec MC462 w/ Delta FFB0812SHE Fan
Is this a good start and how much speed can i expect?
Never overclocked before and i really know my way around the inside of computers.
Here is a link to my HS/F combo its not that comman but its a giant of cooling power.

Take a look around this forum, and all your questions will be answered....

but in a few words:
- Take a HB-pencil
- Cover the bridges marked with 'L1' on the CPU with the pencil, they should look like this:

before covering: L1. : : : :

after your work: L1. | | | |

...now you should be able to select the desired multiplier in the BIOS, but as I said, there are many, many postings around here covering this topic!

That looks like an awesome hsf! 80mm delta on it - that's gotta cool pretty damn well. Once you get everything up and running you'll have to post with some load temps, just so we can see how impressively it cools. Hey Azz, how do you like the Orfrio now, huh? If I wasn't watercooled I'd get me one of them swiftechs :-)

About your system, looks great, only thing I would change would be the processor (call me mad!). No matter how good the cooling, tbirds hit a ceiling around 1300MHz, so even with that kickass heatsink, you won't get much of an overclock. If you absolutely want the speed, go for the 1.2gig chip, but if you want the pride of a big overclock go for a slower chip, like a tbird 900 or 1000, that'll go to 1100 and maybe then some. Oh, and here's a link to an article on the L1's with pics - ignore all the other bridges, just join the L1's and you'll be able to change everything in softmenu on the Abit:

There are exceptions to every rule, Goku :-)

I have Chosen an AMD Duron 850 MHz because of the overclockablity of the durons. If any knows about how much i can get out of this chip. :O i love this icon.
