HEY PEOPLES. I have a problem.. hehe

I got all these chips for my brothers new computer... they are..

Gigabyte -7DXC MOBO
AMD thunderbird 1.1GHZ -CPU
ELSA geforce 2 GTS 32mb - VGA
IBM 45gig 7200 - Harddrive
128 DDR RAM !!

okay there ya go.. i have all that, i am positive that i set it all up right, but like, when i start it up, there is nothing that shows up on the monitor.. like there is no input to the monitor... i have switched monitor's.. so it isnt the monitor, i have checked the VGA, because i put in a voodoo3 3000 pci in there. I realy have no clue what is the problem.. there are no beeps when i start it, and all the fans and everything start up and work perfectly, i dont know if it is the mobo*jumpers on it* the RAM or CPU.. i really dont know, if you need anymore information, just post what you need, and i will fill ya in on what you need. Also some things that i could check, to see what the problem is. thanks a lot!

Well for starters, ya have to install the Voodoo Card Bios and Software for it, before it will work :-)

Other than that, the rest looks like a cluster f***.

IMO.

Does your mobo might not support that Rambus chip.

Awkward one this - if your psu is only 250W, that may not be enough, 300 would be better. The behaviour though (fans and things powering up) sounds like what happens when I set my multiplier too high, or the voltage too low - it doesn't post, just sits there whirring (that's why I thought it might be the psu, the cpu might not be getting the power it needs). Just in case there is something odd going on with the multiplier on the mobo, try unlocking the chip with the pencil trick - http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/00q3/000711/index.html and http://www.athlonoc.com/unlocking.htm . Maybe it needs a bios update to support cpus over 1 gig. Also if you can, set the jumpers on the mobo to give max (probably 1.85v) voltage to the cpu, just in case. Let us know if you solve it!

Hehe, I did this once, assembling my PC. Forgot to latch in the processor and computer was just blank, whoops. I doubt this is your problem, but hey, people (me) do dumb things (that).

although this process may seem like a real pain in the azz ... when i have similar problems i take everything apart and lay everything out on a table ... reduce the system to the lowest possible system (ie... mobo, cpu, hs/f, power supply, internal speaker, and power switch - note no video card or monitor) power the system up and see if you get the happy beep ... if so then start to add components in order of importance and one at a time .... ie memory, video card, disk drives, etc until you encounter a situation that will not post ... then you have isolated the problem.... please note unless you really want curly hair don't fiddle with things until you have turned the power off each time .... hope this helps even if it is a pain in the azz

'do or do not there is no try' *yoda*
